ERA Stanley Shaldon Award for Michael Balzer
Professor Michael Balzer has been awarded the ERA Stanley Shaldon Award for Young Investigators in Translational Science for his outstanding scientific work on new approaches to understanding kidney disease.
The award is presented by the European Renal Association (ERA) and recognizes exceptional achievements by young investigators in translational kidney research. Prof. Balzer’s work focuses on mechanisms of kidney adaptation, repair, and regeneration after acute and chronic injury, with a particular emphasis on single-cell technologies to identify disease-relevant cell states.
The award, endowed with €10,000, was presented during the ERA Congress 2026.
